All of the above! Maybe less well known but curious to know what people think of Irish band Glyder? I'm Irish so a bit biased : ) but think they're great. Less expansive and progressive than DT but have that melodic metal side and are great players. Check out new song Fade to Dust below : )

@IrishDTFan: Thanks for the post on the band "Glyder." Those guys are really good, and not a band I have ever listened to before, but it inspired me to buy the album " Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow." |

If you come from a more Jazzy background and want a more mellow Prog experience. Can I suggest "The Underfall Yard" by "Big Big Train", and just about anything by "Yes".

There is soooo much great material out there. In fact, I found that listening to too much progressive rock/metal burned me out. I had to listen to lots of different stuff ( jazz, blues, hip-hop, etc . . . ) which helped me be the music fanatic I am-haha. But while there are some great listings here, I would recommend the following myself: Besides DT there is anything from Genesis, Symphony X, Marillion, Return To Forever and Transatlantic. But I would strongly recommend listening to Frank and Dweezil Zappa for a more extreme progressive music experience. It's all good. But don't get too caught up into listening to it all. Take the time and enjoy it separately! |

A big thank you to all you guys that offered suggestions. Living in Nebraska limits my access to awesomeness and I think DT holds my state suspect for containing any fans as the closest they've ever come is Kansas City.

Not many King Crimson props here, but if you like jazz, you'll probably like the '80s and onward versions of King Crimson. |
