So what happens with A Nightmare to Remember?

Anyway, I think they won't perform the likes of ANTR and The Dark Eternal Night again, or maybe they will include bits and pieces into medleys.

Hmmmm....I don't know about that, I think we may have seen the last of the medley days. I remember on a DVD commentary Mike saying he liked the medleys, cause you could hear a bunch of different songs. But JP saying he didn't, cause it was like you were getting cheated out of hearing the entire song. So, may not be too many more medleys, if at all.

@Awake79

I think that's a slightly different point to be honest. With Space-Dye Vest it's because it was very personal to Kevin I believe, where as this will be because non of the band could perform it in a way that comes off well. Very different reasons in my opinion. And I think Nightmare is more personal to JP as its about his car crash right? So they won't "retire" it on that basis.

I don't think that's valid (not argumentative)??? Every song is personal to the person who writes it. It comes from within, from some source of inspiriation in their life?

I think it's a terrible song and I hope they never play it live again.

Sorry, I'm confused. Which part are you saying is not valid? The comment about Space-Dye Vest? That's just what I heard their official stance was somewhere. I don't agree with it I agree with you but I think MP's growls could cause a problem if they perform Nightmare live and that's nothing to do with being too close to MP, the lyrics were written by JP.

My bad; yeah, the Space Dye Vest thing. That was their excuse for not playing it, and on the DVD commentary for 5YIALT Mike is talks about not wanting to play Anna Lee because its too much of a Derek song. I think thats crap. Once someone writes a song, and its gets released as a band song, on an album, it should be fair game to play at any time. If those were "Kevin's" or "Derek's" songs, and they didn't want them played, they wouldn't have contributed them during the writing process.

That's a good point actually, I don't know who would have done it in the auditions.

Jordan could do it with a vocoder. He's worked with vocoding synths before to make his voice sound all roboty and low (not on any of DT's stuff; see his youtube vidoes), so it'd be cool to see him take a vocal role :). I doubt he would tho.

And I think I agree with Hprog, they'll probably just include it in medleys. Which I think is unfortunate, both of those songs are some of my absolute favourites (despite the stupidity of the vocal arrangements in some parts).

I was lucky to hear both songs liveTDEN in Valencia (Venezuela) in 2008 and ANTR in Berlin in 2009.

I would have preferred if MP would have gotten Akerfeldt to sing the cookie monster part on A Nightmare to Remember at that show I attended, though. Musically, I like ANTR a lot, but can't stand the lyrics and those badly sung guttural vocals that don't go with the text at all.
