Thoughts on Meet & Greet

Wow that's cool. I'm uncertain whether everyone would have the same experiences in other countries though, where curfews would probably be tighter, and gear needs to be moved quicker in order to get from one venue to the next. Like here. In Australia. Big m*therf*cking country this is.

It was $275, guys. Austin meet and greet was great. At age 34 I proposed to my girl and met the biggest idols of my life on the same day! For the most part i got out what i planned to say to everyone. Mangini was incredible. JLB was badass. The location of the tickets and all the merchandise was very worth it. I saw people complain about the concert t shirt on here, and i have to say, they are ignorant. Sure its not flashy but its HAND MADE! Really high quality soft material, though the sizes are a bit smaller, it didnt affect me or my lady.

On a similar note, three years ago I shelled out $250 for a VIP M & G with Megadeth. This included a photo with the band, an autographed pic and you were allowed to bring one additional personal item to get signed, plus everyone got a special Megadeth merch kit (which did not include a t-shirt). There were about 35 people in all that sprang for it.

Anyways, there was virtually no time allotted to chat with the band members as the whole process was hurried along. All we basically got to do was say "hi" to Dave & the guys during the autograph signing and that was it. The whole thing was over in about 25 minutes.

While it was fun to partake in this, $250 was a little pricey and I would think that it would include at least a few minutes to interact with the guys. I do realize though that the band is on a tight schedule as they do several other M & Gs per show.

Has anyone received their shirts already from the Mexico's M&G?

I would love to do this, but as an 18 year old it is hard for me to rationalize that kind of price even on my idols. I would have loved to have hung outside the venue, but since i was there with other people i couldnt :/
perhaps next time ill get that chance, but i still probably wont do a meet and greet :/
im hoping to see symphony x in feb, and their meet and greet is $75, and i doubt ill even be able to do that :/
dt is a bigger band, but that much money just seems over the top to me.. I like how Joe Satriani offers it, but also gives away a meet and greet per show to website members. i think its a nice gesture to the fans..
I dont blame dt, but i just wish i could afford this :(

Im considering upgrading to a m&g in London and its the first time I ever have considered buying a m&g to any of the bands that I Iike/worship, but being a new fan I have to meet them in person to shake their hands and thanking them for these beautiful tunes they have brought into my life. I only wish I had heard of them some 20-25 years ago. I have missed out on soooo much

I have a question regarding m&g and that is it allowed to bring your shuff for signing? I bought the A Dramatic Turn of Events Limited Edition Boxset and I would really love if I could get it signed

Well, here is how they did the signing bit (and if I did not make this clear before, this is the time that you get like 30 seconds to say something to each of the band members) - first off, if you did the M&G you automatically get this really excellent signed and numbered limited release poster. Very nice. So there is one signed thing already. Then they have this little 8x11 glossy photo of the band members that they will already be signing at the table. So there are two signed things.

Now, they will sign something else for you - definitely one piece of memorabilia - anything more than one...you better be ready for some strange looks. I bet they'd do it but I am not confident that would be real considerate. Your call. They were, however, very generous with the people I was around in line.

Awesome guys but three months after my m&g I still maintain that it would have been amazing to have had some more interaction.

My experience in Austin's meet and greet was very different than the last poster's. The host told us to please not be too touchy feely, but we wouldn't be kicked out for shaking their hands. The reality was we all shook everyone's hands and nothing was a big deal. There were about 80 of us, it did not feel like we were rushed too much. Granted you dont get to hang out and have a drawn out conversation, i was able to say a few specific things to each band member and everyone was very friendly and pleasant.
The signing thing is BS. We were told only ONE item per person, but a lot of people got a lot of things signed in addition to the tour poster. My Fiance was holding onto both of our posters so i could get something else signed but they all grabbed even the second one from her to sign. A guy got hos guitar signed by everyone. I got drumsticks signed, the new cd, and another guy even got his shirt signed, no strange looks by anyone so i have no idea what the last poster was talking about.
