We have a new "highest vocal note in a DT album"

Posts: 27 Member #: 173,617 Joined: 09/08/2011	In the chant part for BMUBMD, the backing vocals go up very, very high. F5 - Under A Glass Moon Higher than that.. F#5 - Learning To Live Even higher... G5 - Octavarium Yes, it's higher than that... G#5 - Build Me Up, Break Me Down Insanely high! But wait... A5 - Build Me Up, Break Me Down Yep. The backing vocals in BMUBMD are mainly G#5 (already a record), but they reach an astounding A5, a whole step higher than the previous highest note, from Octavarium. The only time I've heard James LaBrie reach A5 before is on the bootleg recording of DT's cover of Number of the Beast. WDADU is much better than BCSL I believe you're referring to my signature, not my post ;) But I don't really like WDADU, to me it doesn't sound like a DT album, and not just because of Dominici. Having said that, it's still better than the nightmare of SC. I would have liked to heard those kinds of pitches and tones in different places. Perhaps some Bridges in the Sky or Outcry. But seriously.... He owns so much face on this album. Perhaps on the prechoruses for On The Backs Of Angels, if the harmonies went up a couple of octaves as well as down, they could have reached A5, but I think it would sound forced. The chants in BMUBMD are that high up because he's basically screaming the words at you. Have been too lazy to open my piano app on teh iPhone to find outFyi LaBrie also sang an A5 in the live version of Lines in the Sand that was on Chaos in Motion. Random side note...I think I might be the only person on the planet that loves Systematic Chaos...it was one of my first albums, so that Could be the reason why, but I'm pretty sure it's not, since after having all their other albums also, I still love all the tracks on Systematic Chaos. How can you not think Ministry of Lost Souls is absolutely incredible?Just my opinion though.

And yea I heard the backing vocals during the chorus of Build Me Up, Break Me Down, at first I couldn't believe that was James, it was amazing.
