Your Dream Concert?

OH MY GOD HOW COULD I FORGET THE BEATLES AND PINK FLOYD!?

For the Beatles, I wouldn't care what concert. Just so see them once, ever, would be a blessing to remember.

And then yes, Pink Floyd. I'd see the original The Wall, the Wish You Were Here tour, be at the show where they shot Pulse... and who could forget Live Aid?

And I remembered another: Hendrix at Woodstock. Nuff said.

@Soulfire:

I saw Pink Floyd on the Division Bell Tour. Roger Waters wasn't there, but it was still an epic show by all means. To be able to see "The Wall" performed live back in its heyday day would be phenomenal!

Hendrix at Woodstock. Nuff said, indeed. :)

One artist that I'm very glad to say I got to see live is Stevie Ray Vaughn. He rocked the house! Whew!

Inconveniently, I'm only 18 years old lol, so I wasn't lucky enough to be born when a lot of these artists were in their heyday unfortunately :(.

@Soulfire:

I was born in '68. That made me 11 years old when "The Wall" came out. At that point in my life, I was really into sports and it would be about another year before I would own my first guitar. I was too young in the 70s to experience the heydays of groups like Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Queen, Black Sabbath, Alice Cooper, ELP, etc. I was in diapers when Hendrix played Woodstock. LOL.

About the time I was going into Middle School was when I got introduced to Black Sabbath. As soon as I heard Tony Iommi bend the opening note to "Iron Man," I forgot all about sports and I was hooked on music. The first real album that I ever owned was Black Sabbath's Greatest Hits. I still have the album. It's in a frame hanging above my computer desk.

My very first concert was Blue Oyster Cult/Foghat at Nassau Coliseum. I had never heard guitars and drums sound so loud and powerful. Back in those days, BOC would bring Godzilla out on to the stage, breathing smoke all over the band while they sang the chorus: "Go, go, Godzilla." Oh, the whole thing just blew me away.

There's a few musicians I would have liked to have seen life -

Jaqueline Du Pre playing the Elgar Cello Concerto at the Royal Albert Hall

Going back even further, I would have really liked to have seen Paganini to see if he lived up to his reputation

Rock gigs: Queen at Hammersmith Odeon Christmas Eve 1975, Rolling Stones at Knebworth 1976

Would also have liked to have seen Miles Davis with the original "Bitches Brew" lineup

@PeteQ:

Miles Davis’ “Bitches Brew” is an excellent choice! It would be amazing to watch Miles run the voodoo down with Chick Corea, John McLaughin, Wayne Shorter, and the rest of the band. Of course, Miles Davis is a man with a lot of great eras of music under his belt, from his early days with Charlie Parker, into the “Birth of the Cool,” through “Kind of Blue,” “Sketches of Spain,” and his “Bitches Brew” jazz/fusion era, and even into some of his recordings from the 80s. “Decoy” (1984) was actually my first exposure to Miles; I bought the album after seeing a video of him on VH1. Loved it! I didn’t learn about his place in jazz history until after that. He’s definitely one artist that I would want to go back to see.

Man, if you had said you were born in '67, the amount of PT references I could be hurling right now.

But after a while, you realise time flies....

Ah, the year of Sgt. Pepper and Are you experienced...

November 27, 2011 5:20:07 PM UTC Post #19

Hummmmmmm, let's see...

Led Zeppelin, Madison Square Garden. (Miss John Bonham).
Queen. They actually came to Mexico in 1981 but I was only 10 and missed them.
Maria Callas' debut opera Bocaccio, Athens 1942. That would've been awesome.
The Grateful Dead at Giza back in 1978 and Monterey's pop festival 1967. Go Jerry go!!!
Jethro Tull, the first time they came to Mexico in 1993. I got mugged shortly after I bought my ticket and got me some bruises and no show :(
Toto, Morelia Mexico 2004. I had front and center tickes for that one and the wankers cancelled.
Supertramp 1980 in Paris. My uncle attended that show and has some really cool pics, he said it was the best show he's ever been to. Roger Hodgson was still in the band of course.
Depeche Mode june 18th, 1988. Rose bowl in Pasadena. Yeah, I know ;), but I like them.
I have some more but I gotta go work buddy, lol. Have a great one.

@Jorge Armando:

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear about your mugging before the Tull show. That's horrible.

Jethro Tull is one band that I have never seen live, though I desperately want to because I'm a huge fan. "Songs from the Wood" and "Minstrel In the Gallery" are my favorites. Also, their Christmas Album is amazing, believe it or not. I hear that they will be touring in 2012, doing "Thick As a Brick." With any luck, I'm going to make it to one of those shows.

The Dead at Giza! I can't think of a more awesome setting for a concert than that. Great call, Jorge!
