GREETING FROM BRAZIL
I WAS WONDER WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE DT SONG?
MINE IS PULL ME UNDER BUT IT ENDS SOON I THINK MY FILE IS BAD
Well, it's really difficult... However I choose Count of Tuscany (I'm italian!) and Home.
I must say that Beneath the Surface is another wonderful song and I'm listening it every day in this period!!!
I have to admit that almost all songs are beautiful and it should be hard to pick one I don't like!!
.........A CHANGE OF SEASONS......
........IN THE PRESENCE OF ENEMIES (entire version).....
........SIX DEGREES OF INNER TURBOLENCE.....
.....THE COUNT OF TUSCANY......
....only to cite someone ..... ;) :D
Love the lyrics.
Love the strange melodies.
It describes me in someway.
Anna Lee, or more specifically, the bridge to Anna Lee. Yes, the song is very much a Queen tribute, but something magic happens in that bridge that never fails to slay me...
Hey, I'm from Brasil too!
It's hard to pick just one...
So I could say
Learning to Live
A Change of Seasons
The Awser Lies Within
Beneath the Surface
The Ministry of Lost Souls
The Best of Times
Learning to live at the moment but there is soo many to choose from I cant just pick one.
Like several posters have said, there are so many great ones, how do you pick? Most of my favorites have been mentioned already, but one of the ones I just can't get enough of listening to that nobody has mentioned so far is Peruvian Skies. James's voice, the slow buildup, and finally the all out crunch of the song blow me away. I also like Forsaken. Can't help it, I love the piano intro and outro, and Petrucci's riffing in that song. And again, Jame's voice when he screams out "I have to know your name...Where have I seen your face before?" I get chills thinking about it now.
Octavarium = greatest song ever written in the history of the world.

That's what every beginner thinks, I thought like this too. But with the time, you will understand that Pull Me Under is not Dream Theater.
My favourite is probably A Change of Seasons.
Top ten is like this: (not in order)
- A Change of Seasons
- Metropolis Pt. 1
- Learning to Live
- In the Name of God
- The Dance of Eternity
- Six Degrees of Inner Turbulance
- Lost Not Forgotten
- Breaking All Illusions
This question should be tricky to answer but to me it isn't, cause one of their songs stands out in a way that makes it the best by far in my book and that would be Octavarium. I don't think a better song will be written, ever.
A lot of other songs are also "way up there" even though they can't rival Octavarium and an honorary mention, just to name one, would be The Count of Tuscany.
Home one of my fav's 2, they all bloody good. Mirror is another one Root of all evil, Raise the knife, Never enough, lie, Sacrificed sons, six degrees, Octavarium. Man, all there songs are to good, I can't say that is one that I don't like.
Count of Tuscany
Nightmare to Remember
Strange Deja Vu
The Test That Stumped Them All
Breaking All Illusions
...to name a few.
Surrounded! I think the only downside to the new album is that it's missing such an incredibly uplifting piece.
Metropolis Pt. I for me. The first song I heard and one that really shows what DT is about.
Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence and The Count of Tuscany
Gotta do a "Top 5".... such a hard question !!!
1. Take The Time
2. The Spirit Carries On
3. Innocence Faded
4. The Count Of Tuscany
5. Bridges In The Sky
It's impossible to pick one... But the ones that come to mind are.. (not in any sort of order..)
The Ministry of Lost Souls
Bridges in the Sky*
Metropolis Pt. 1
Mine is The Glass Prison, has been for years. BUT, BAI is slowing working its way up the list.
Octavarium it's honestly there most well put together song perfect from start to finish.
thats a herd thign to say at one point on the ipod the top 25 was dream theater all kinds of songs reading the posts it's a hard choice how about all twelve cd's that I have
Man... epic question. The most accurate answer for me is probably, whichever I'm listening to at that moment. =P But if I had to go deeper... one that always stands out in my mind is The Glass Prison. Something about that song is just absolutely perfect from start to finish and it has a fantastic energy throughout. It was also one of the first things I heard from them and the song that made me fall in love with DT. Although on the softer end of the spectrum, I think that Beneath the Surface is becoming a new favorite. =)
I thought the same thing about Glass Prison. It was the first thing I ever heard from DT and it pretty much floored me. I never heard anything like that before so that song will always be special to me. Right up there with it though would be Breaking All Illusions.
1. A Change of Seasons
3. Learning to Live
4. Trial of Tears / Scarred
5. Breaking All Illusions
probably a tie between The Glass Prison and The Count of Tuscany. I'm really hoping they play The Count of Tuscany again this tour because I've only seen it live one time.
Voices is #1 for me
A close 2nd include: A Change of Seasons, Octavarium, and Trial of Tears.
Raise the Knife from Score
I'll go with a Top5 as well:
1) Trial Of Tears
3) The Shattered Fortress
4) Stream Of Consciousness
5) Under a Glass Moon
Though this changes pretty often, depending on which album I'm listening to...
Ladies and Gentlemen,
That is all.
If I had to pick one... A Change of Seasons. :>
