I would say my first one is The Spirit Carries On.

When my Grandad passed away 2 months ago it helped me to think, where is he gone? is he okay now? etc.

My second song for when I was younger was Finally Free, helped me get over a couple of ex's lol!!

The song worked very well and cheering me up.

Last but not least, Surrounded. The way James sings that sends me shivers down my spine, it's so beautiful.

What about anyone else? What songs make you're day?!

Take the Time and Learning to Live from Images and Words

Looking Glass from Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence

Many more favorites but I typically turn to these when I need redirection out of a dumpy mood.

Correction - not Looking Glass even thought it is great too. I meant The Glass Prison from Six Degrees...

The first one is for sure the spirit carries on, the song i had to play time after time for my son. has he died 5 years ago, only 19 years old , it became even more special to me, as if he was trying to tell me not to weep on his grave , to move on and be brave. the second one is this is the life because it helped me in my darkest hours after te death of our son to go on with my life.
the third one i can not choose because there are to many beautiful songs for several reasons.

2. These Walls
3. Home

These songs are my favorites and that's a difficult thing for me to pick. The ones that bring out the strongest emotions in me are:
In the Name of god
Home
Octavarium.

Listening to some good Dream Theater in general lifts my spirits lol but the 3 most would probably be..

Finally Free. As MattSoden said, for that very reason, you know getting over past relationships and exes. Somehow helped a lot, and I think it's mainly Petrucci's majestic riff at the end, Portnoy wailing it on the drums, and the fact that it just hads that "grand finale" vibe to it, which I dig a lot.

In the Presence of Enemies. Part II in particular, cause it's heavy as shit and helps a lot when I'm feeling extremely negative about stuff. Plus I always thought of the story in that song as of someone struggling with his own demons and ultimately breaking free of them, which to me is quite inspirational.

At last there's: Learning to Live. I think this one is self-explanatory. It's almost like some kind of philosophical revelation on each listen.

I Walk Beside You
The Count Of Tuscany

When everything's "grey" I do appreciate listening to the "strange" Space Dye-Vest song. It's so...dark and slow at the ear that it's really close to the mood at that moment.

Otherwise, when I need some energy, a session of "A Nightmare To Remember" is so strong and so heavy...not for the sentences but for the "sound" !

And then, at last, the third one that lift me up is "Raise The Knife".

I know this list may seem a bit...bizarre but it' mine ! ;-)

00:50 sec. in Breaking All Illusions. Freaking epic

Count of Tuscany, Octavarium and A Change of Seasons. These are definite.

I have a lot of other songs that also get to me, but those are some of the tunes that I enjoy the most.

Bridges i want that to be played at my memorial. At which everyone will be doing shots of bourbon and singing DT songs, lol. Also far from heaven touches me and i cant say why lol. Anyone got a pic of the band shirtless and clean shaven? HEEHEE

Stream of Consciousness. That one always picks me up, don't ask why.

Beneath the Surface describe my situation with my "sister" who lives half a state away.
Wait for Sleep is always a cool
Through her eyes kinda bums me out but I love the Score version of The Spirit Carries On. Petrucci's solo in the beginning is fantastic.

Surrounded.

Every single time I listen to this song, it just outs a smile on my face! Too bad it's so short.

Surrounded is the most uplifting song ever!

Bridges in the Sky too.

And for some reason Count of Tuscany, probably just because it's such a great song.

I know it says three songs....but I would have to go with "Wither." That song does something to me emotionally when things are off in my life

Definitely The Spirit Carries On

Others would be Disappear (this one honestly kills me when I'm sad) and The Answer Lies Within
